Under Mr. Ahuja's leadership, the Delhi/NCR Chapter has built strong institutional relationships with Indian government bodies, industry chambers, export councils, state governments and international missions. His work has earned formal recognition and support from the High Commission of India in Mauritius, the Economic Development Board Mauritius, NAFED, and multiple national ministries and apex trade bodies.
Founded in 1989 at the First Global Convention of People of Indian Origin in New York, GOPIO is one of the oldest, largest and most respected international institutions representing the Indian diaspora. What began as a gathering of over 3,000 delegates united by a common purpose has grown, over 35 years, into one of the world's most influential diaspora-driven organisations.
GOPIO is a non-political, secular and non-profit international organisation, accredited by the United Nations as an NGO. Its mandate spans the socio-economic, cultural and professional advancement of People of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) across the globe.
